Hi,
Rebekah here. This is my first posting on this blog so I figured I should introduce myself. I am a sound tech (yes, a female sound tech) with CTI. I am from Kentucky, but have also lived in PA, NJ, MI and Russia. I decided to join CTI during my senior year of college, so after finishing my degree I started the process of joining. A lot of people have asked my why I wanted to join and other than the initial "I get to do sound for a year...with an awesome band," I knew that this time of singleness and few material commitments was a beautiful gift from God. I knew that I needed to give this time back to Him through service though my gifting with sound engineering and a heart to simply listen. And so I am here to live out that calling for "such a time as this."
There is one other thing that I want to tell you in this post. I was a history major in college so old stuff intrigues me. Once in a sermon my pastor mentioned a story about sculptors during the Greek age. He told us that when a novice artist would create a new work there would often be many flaws that he would hide with wax. When a professional sculptor produced a new work, he would first not have as many flaws so his work would not need to be covered by the wax. Secondly, he would sign his work "Without Wax" proving that he was showing his true work, not some covered up monstrosity. You yourself have probably signed a letter or two this way without knowing it, since Without Wax is the English translation of Sincerely. The reason that I include this is that one of the biggest things in my life is to live transparently. Not to hide from the person that I am AND more importantly to not be afraid to strive towards who I want to become. Right now I must be in the process of marring the two as they are very different realities. I hope that through this medium of blogging you will be willing to let me show some of the trials this process brings me through.
Without Wax,
Rebekah
